Grants, New Mexico is a Route 66 town with a cool drive thru

New Mexico has several historic old Route 66 towns, that can now be more easily accessed by traveling on I-40 and exiting. Somewhere between Albuquerque and Gallup resides the town of Grants, which has a cool Route 66 shaped sign you can actually drive your car through and take a photo with. In this tour of Grants drone video, you can see to the east that the town borders lava fields and has views of snow capped mountains to the north. Have you ever been to Grants, New Mexico?

Route 66 still lives on in Tucumcari

If you are traveling from the east into New Mexico, then Tucumcari is the first town you will come across. It is a historic Route 66 town feature a Route 66 Museum and some of the old motels and eateries leftover from those classic 1950s days. Tucumcari also has a great dinosaur museum. I have had the opportunity to stay in town twice while out on photoshoots. This last time the client wanted drone video and photo highlights of the town. I recommend spending at least a night in Tucumcari the next time you are passing through!

Route 66 begins in Seligman, Arizona

My photography work in the past four years has taken me all over New Mexico, and now it is expanding into Arizona where I get the chance to check out more small towns, like Seligman, Arizona. This town is credited with being the birthplace of Route 66. It might be funny to think how a tiny town without a single stoplight would start the first great traveling road in the U.S. Of course, like all Route 66 towns, the hey day of Seligman is long past, but I still enjoy trying to listen and hear an echo of what once was
