When was the last time you actually felt good about a photo of yourself? For many people, having their photo taken can feel awkward or stressful — but it doesn’t have to be that way. My goal with every headshot session at my Pacific Grove photo studio is to make it a relaxed, fun, and empowering experience that leaves you not only with professional photos, but with a real confidence boost too.
Here’s how I make sure you’ll feel good during your headshot session:
Becoming a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Pacific Grove
Since I first started my photography business back in June of 2009, I have always been involved in networking with various business and photography groups. The latest group I have become a member of is the Rotary Club of Pacific Grove. This is something that was not even on my radar just a few months ago, but I met a member at Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce event and he invited me to be a guest at a Rotary Club luncheon. I went and enjoyed it, and then went back again, and I soon found myself looking forward to the bi-weekly luncheons. Before I even became an official member, I was allowed to be a judge in a car show they put on! I am very thankful to have been so warmly welcomed from the start by the PG Rotary Club and look forward to serving the local community through events the club puts on throughout the year.
Branding Photography shoot in Pacific Grove SoundWorks recording studio with returning DJ client Jason Kushy
I am so grateful that as local DJ and music creator Jason Kushy has more and more success with the new EDM tracks he releases, he continues to choose me as his personal branding photographer. Our first shoot was just back in June, in my just opened photo studio in Pacific Grove, then our second shoot was out on the streets of Pacific Grove in September. Now the third shoot was in a Pacific Grove SoundWorks, a local recording studio. I had met the owner, Jermaine, of the recording studio shortly after he had opened it up about a year ago. He remembered me and was fantastic to work with helping both Jason and I in getting the most creative photos we could at the sound board in his studio. This was a true team effort with open sharing of ideas and resulting in another series of branding photos Jason will use on his Spotify channel and with the record label he newly signed with too! Thank you to Jermaine for a great location in his studio for this photo shoot, and to Jason for continuing to choose me as his photographer on his music journey! —Find Jason Kushy, DJ and producer, on Spotify
Hampton Inn Hotel Salinas Commercial Real Estate Aerial Photography and Drone Video
I first went to the Hampton Inn Salinas to make commercial real estate interior photography back in March of this year. I returned this time to get all exterior content, including a drone marketing video, aerial photos, and twilight still photos all to promote the hotel and its location. I really like this kind of all encompassing photography and drone video job where I can make content of the entire property in my own style delivering for the client a complete visual representation of the hotel from inside all the way to 200 feet above the ground! Thank you to the team at the Hampton Inn Salinas for assisting me during both of these shoots.
Shooting tethered for live reviewing helps get the right smile each time!
Natalie and her husband visited my photo studio in downtown Pacific Grove for a series of new headshots for her. Natalie was looking for a couple of specific levels of smile in her headshots. Since I shoot tethered she was able to review each headshot we made in real time on a 43” screen. This allowed us to get the particular smile she wanted for each headshot as we shot on two different backgrounds (white and gray) and with a couple of different poses as well. This is one big benefit I offer headshot clients, the chance to see each headshot as we go through the photo shoot so we work together to get the exact headshot they want. Thank you to Natalie and her husband for a fun shoot, a creative one, and for a true team effort in making these headshots!
Return to this Carmel California Airbnb for more professional photography!
I first had the opportunity to photograph this amazing Airbnb vacation rental in Carmel, California in April of this year (first shoot). Since that shoot, owner and designer Melissa has been busy finishing up the outdoor spaces and further improving some of the interior spaces. So I took my camera back to Torres St and again worked closely just like last time with Melissas getting the exact angles and views of the spaces she envisioned in her scouting photography plan. I am happy to work closely with clients like this bringing what they see to life in photos for their Airbnb properties. Thank you Melissa for continuing to choose me as your Airbnb photographer!
Sunny Saturday for the 2025 Pacific Grove Butterfly Parade
This annual parade featuring mostly local school kids welcomes the visiting monarch butterflies to Pacific Grove who are on their own annual parade of sorts, or rather migration! The parade closed with some high school classes of 50+ years ago carrying their banners. I wonder if some of those class of 1975 and later people as kids walked in this same parade?
