Put a hand in a hero shot

Out on a food photography assignment for UberEats in Albuquerque, New Mexico that brought me to Savory Fare Cafe Bakery Catering where I got to take a few of the mini desserts home! UberEats has strict guidelines for how to make the food photos, but in the hero shot like the one above, I can get a little bit creative. There is an option to have a hand in the photo, and the owner herself was willing to be the hand model for the hero shot! Thank you Kelsey for volunteering and the take home swag! I look forward to photographing your entire catering menu soon.

Back to the Mediterranean for Pita

It was deja vu for me this afternoon as a year and a half ago I was in this very same restaurant space doing another shoot for UberEats for a new restaurant called Bayti. Unfortunately, they went out of business. Now in that space, Need-A-Pita run by the very friendly owner, Alex. He helped out by having all the dishes ready one after another and even let me take home the falafel with extra pita. He said it would be the best pita I ever ate, and he was right. The pita was incredibly light and fluffy. Thank you Alex and all your staff (even one person volunteering to be a hand model) for a great food shoot here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

10 dish hero food photo

Having done dozens and dozens of shoots for UberEats, this morning was my first one for Grubhub. The latter has similar photography requirements to the former, but a lot more dishes! As you can see in the hero shot above, there are way more than just 5 dishes in it, as I shot 15 total for this Grubhub professional food photography shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I managed to get 10 of the 15 in the final hero shot. A big thanks to Jacob and his team at Two Cranes Bistro + Brews for getting all this food in front of my lens very efficiently. And also for having a vegan Beyond Cheeseburger on the menu! I look forward to returning as a customer!

Pink Food Background

I had a colorful pink table top for the background of this UberEats food photography shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have photographed many Mexican restaurants in ABQ, but this new location for Taco Mex, to be specific Taco Mex 4, presented me some new dishes I had never seen nor heard of before. New dishes plus a pink table top made for a fun food photography shoot!

I like 50mm at car shows

At car shows it is hard to get a great shot of a complete car due to lack of space, lots of people, and lots of reflections in the sparkling paint jobs on display. That’s why I often focus on details and bring either my macro lens or my 50mm lens to show off one particular feature of a car that catches my eye. I really like the dashboards of classic cars so I always get some of those shots. This time what stood out to me most was the largest convertible hard top I have ever seen frozen in motion (see above). Or maybe it was the 1950s car seat??? (see below) What stands out the most to you from the 35th Annual NMCCC Museum Car Show?

Art Acrobats Dance Downtown Albuquerque Event

On the first Friday of each month downtown Albuquerque becomes an outdoor art exhibit and market, but actually much more than that. You can walk through an interactive light art experience, decorate the streets in chalk, and dance like you are trying to win a contest! Those are just some of the things I witnessed the first Friday in May 2019 in downtown Albuquerque.

Story of Color and Motion in ABQ

While wondering around downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico as part of the First Friday Art Walk event, a curious looking space had its door open allowing views of swirling color. To my surprise this visual art event was dog friendly so in we went! As you walk on the floor, color moves. How does it to that? Seemed like magic! Tables flow with changing patterns that react to hand movements, also seemingly by magic! People really loved interacting with light and color and art. This was a fantastic stumble upon experience!
