Menu Item Professional Food Photographer in Monterey California
I went to La Casa del Sazon in Monterey, California for a food photography shoot featuring ten menu items. Setting up on a table in the back of the restaurant, using some staging items they provided, I then used natural window light and a reflector for fill light to create these food photography images to show off their most popular menu items. I captured at least three angles for each menu item, from the standard 45 degree “customer view” to a top down “hero shot” and then a close up shot. So not only do they get great photos to use on their menu and website, but also social media and marketing photos of each dish as well. Thank you to Ignacio and the team for everything they did for this food photography shoot at their Mexican restaurant in Monterey!
Food Truck Menu Photography clean and ready for display!
Elder drove his food truck right up to my house for an extended menu food photography shoot at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In just over two hours I was able to photograph 30+ menu items for Elder. He wanted a clean white background for the photos as these will appear on TV screens on his food truck. We still made time to get a hero shot and a couple other highlight shots of the New Mexican food dishes he and his team prepared that morning. This was also the first time for me to use my new LED continuous lighting for a shoot, so that while shooting tethered with continuous lighting, Elder could see in real time the shadows and highlights of each dish even before I pushed the shutter on the camera!
If you like guac or just saying the word, then . . .
For my second food photography shoot for Grubhub, I visited All things Guac!! (two exclamation points are in the actual name). I have said this before, but despite having photographed dozens of New Mexican restaurants, even at this shoot, I am still photographing dishes I have never heard of before. That was true for most of the fifteen dishes this time in fact! One I had heard of before of course, cheese quesadillas, I got to take home!
I had a colorful pink table top for the background of this UberEatsfood photographyshoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have photographed many Mexican restaurants in ABQ, but this new location for Taco Mex, to be specific Taco Mex 4, presented me some new dishes I had never seen nor heard of before. New dishes plus a pink table top made for a fun food photography shoot!
Over two long days of food photography in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I got to know El Paisano Supermarket and its owner Miguel pretty well! I spent nearly 10 hours in total photographing the food, aisles, and piñatas in this unique market. Featured here are a selection of foods from the restaurant and carniceria. In rapid succession meal after meal was brought in front of my lens. Miguel even helped out holding the reflector for many of the shots to help things go as efficiently as possible during the shoot. Really, all the staff pitched in during these two marathon shoots which lead to the great results you see below.
I have been vegetarian for over 22 years. It is much easier being vegetarian now than it was then, but a fully vegetarian restaurant is still a rare thing to come across. Thus, I was extra excited to get a UberEatsfood photography assignment for The Acres which features comfort vegetarian food, as they describe it at their Albuquerque, New Mexico location. Shawn and his staff were very prepared and helped out, with one waitress even hand modeling in the above shot1 And the topper, I got to take the green chile veggie cheeseburger to go! Thanks Shawn!
Santa Fe Sage Inn contacted me about coming up to make some food photographs of new menu items for the grand opening of their social themed restaurant. It was a diverse shoot ranging from close up dessert shots, to from above “hero shots” of multiple food dishes, to stylized backlit drink shots. It was a fun challenge changing gears between the different setups required for each of those types of photographs. You can see that diversity in the gallery below. Thank you to Sonya for all your assistance during this shoot and when you are next in Santa Fe be sure and check out their social themed restaurant!
