Clouds making for stunning rural land real estate photos in New Mexico
As the best and most prolific rural land real estate photographer in the state of New Mexico, I am constantly looking at weather reports for trying to get the best possible skies for client shoots. On a day like this in Taos, New Mexico, the clouds were absolutely dramatically stunning and the results were over 50 photos from around the Carson Estates area near Taos, New Mexico that delivered exactly what my client, Hemingway Land Company, wanted for grabbing the attention of land buying customers who will likely be buying sight unseen. I covered dozens of miles off road and hours of getting in and out of my Jeep from noon to sunset to create this collection of rural land real estate photographs that will help my client sell the land faster.
With autumn approaching, here is a preview to get you read for golden sunsets over the desert. This photo was made near the Toadstool Hoodoos in far northwest Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Reaching the near impossible for rural land real estate photography
In March I made a difficult 10 mile drive down very rough roads to reach several rural land real estate properties in El MorroCibola County New Mexico. I was hoping on my return in a fairer weather month the roads and conditions would be better, but in fact they were worse with more mud and more exposed lava rock to carefully find a way over in my Jeep! At least I had the experience of making the drive already to know what to expect. I detailed my first experience driving out there in great detail in this blog post. Thankfully, when I finally reached the properties (neither had a road to it, I had to drive across open desert) I was treated to good skies, clouds, and ultimately, a very nice sunset to make the headline images that help my client sell his rural land real estate fast.
If you find yourself in Roswell, New Mexico and you want to do some non-alien exploring, nearby Bottomless Lakes State Park is a hidden gem worth seeking out. The lakes are actually sinkholes filled with water, and as always, to my disappointment with such things, not truly bottomless! Some are up to 90 feet deep though, which for the desert, is pretty far down. You can hike all along the ~6 lakes even circumnavigating the rims of each which offer unique views adding even more to the sense of bottomlessness of the water. I had both my camera and drone with me to capture these lakes from all angles. On a recent trip to Angel Fire, New Mexico for a rural land client, I sent my DJI Mavic 2 Prodrone up and was shown a landscape totally different than from where I stood surrounded by tall trees. Going up a hundred feet allows for unique landscape photography. Combining dramatic clouds filling the sky, with the tall pine treetops, and the distant mountains, these drone aerial photos are some of my personal favorites that I have ever made in New Mexico. Here on the Jason Collin Photography blog I always like to show you unique views of known places. Angel Fire is a ski resort town, but I have actually never seen it in snow despite three trips there! So if you have only seen it in snow, from these drone photos, you can see how visiting Angel Fire in the spring after the snow melts reveals it is still a very special place with amazing scenery, especially from the drone’s viewpoint!
For those with enough adventurous spirit, and the right vehicle, and the in the desert with not-so-accurate-GPS navigating skills, somewhere far south of Bloomfield, New Mexico, some 18 miles down dirt roads, you can find Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Area and its amazing hoodoos. What are hoodoos? They are a rock formation that look like toadstool mushrooms. This was actually my second hoodoos rock formation site to visit (check out the first). What an alien landscape this was to explore with the hoodoos forming on the banks of an arroyo, very, very far from any civilization. This is a fantastic New Mexico True site to visit. On a rural land real estate photography shoot for a new client, Three Rings Property Solutions, the skies in Valencia County that evening were very dramatic, making for rural land photos with impact. As regular readers of Jason Collin Photography will know, I am the most prolific rural land real estate photographer in the entire state of New Mexico. I am always glad when a new land buyer chooses me as their photographer, thanks Mike! The clouds made for a lot of drama to add to the high desert scenery with distant mountain views. This trio of properties were captured by both my Sony mirrorless camera and by drone in aerial photos and 4K drone video too. Including drone video really helps to show off rural land real estate in a maximum attention grabbing way to potential buyers.
