Porsche Taycan Albuquerque Car Photography Portraits with Mark

Porsche Taycan Albuquerque Car Photography Portraits with Mark

Electric Car Photography with a Porsche Taycan in downtown ABQ

Julia was my very last client of 2020 visiting the JCP Home Studio for a business headshot. She recently contacted me again for a very different type of photography, car portraits for her stepdad, Mark. I always really appreciate when clients continue to choose me as their photographer. I went and scouted a location for the car photography shoot in downtown Albuquerque. Mark drove up in his Porsche Taycan Turbo in a stunning "frozen blue" color. This is Porsche's first fully electric vehicle to rival the likes of the Tesla Model S. It is no secret I wish I could be exclusively a car photographer, so I really enjoy the chances I do get to photograph a car like this, with Mark in many of the shots for creative car portraits too! Thank you Julia and Mark for choosing me as your car photographer!

Electric Car Photography for Bonhams in Santa Fe New Mexico

If I could do nothing but car photography I would! So whenever I get the chance to photograph a car, especially for Bonhams, I am always grateful and excited for the chance. This time for Bonhams I went up to Santa Fe to photograph a Tesla Model S P100D. The seller had a spectacular mountain background view right on his property for photographing the car on. If you like this car, get your bid in now!

Representing New Mexico to the Greater Car World

Representing New Mexico to the Greater Car World

The Unofficial Photographer for the BMW Club and more!

Besides being a full-time professional photographer (since 2009), I am often the official or unofficial photographer for every group I belong too. Such is the case for the BMW Car Club of New Mexico. I enjoy these unofficial photographer titles because I like to contribute to the groups I belong to. Even during the pandemic, the BMW club organized many Covid-19 safe destination drives to points all over New Mexico. I of course always bring my camera with me, and sometimes the drone too. These photos go out in the club newsletter, and twice a year it’s a personal highlight to see some of those photos in physical print in the Bimmer Life Magazine. Thanks to Dan and other club members for writing the great copy in the magazine, even though I was incorrectly credited for both the writing and the photos.

Art Cartopia Museum of Trinidad Colorado Photos

Art Cartopia Museum of Trinidad Colorado Photos

For car and oddities lovers

Atlas Obscura is a great website for finding hidden gems and odd places when traveling. This is how Art Cartopia Museum came on my radar on a recent rural land photography shoot in Trinidad, Colorado. This museum is free (though donations encouraged) and dog friendly indoors and out, and open during Covid-19 for guests wearing masks. What can you see at this museum? Art cars of all kinds, styles, and designs! A van covered in eyeballs? Yes. A huge skeleton driving on top of a car? Yes. A dentist’s dream (or nightmare?) car? Yes. Oddities abound in car form. The owner as one would expect is friendly, a character, and makes you feel like you are the very first visitor ever to the museum, which to me is always a sign of a great host, making you feel like you are the first visitor ever!

Duesenberg Model X Professional Car Photography Albuquerque New Mexico

Duesenberg Model X Professional Car Photography Albuquerque New Mexico

It’s a Duesenberg in Albuquerque!

In my car photography career, I have had the opportunity to photograph a lot of expensive cars, including a Rolls-Royce Wraith over $350k (and even drive it too!). However, the Duesenberg Model X photographed in Albuquerque, New Mexico is above and beyond any other car in terms of both value and rarity. This Duesenberg model is just one of five still in existence in the world! Who owns one of those other examples? No less than Jay Leno! The owner of this Model X is selling to to replace it with a Duesenberg Model J. He hired me to make photographs to help sell it for the highest price possible, as well as make drone video of the car in motion on Tramway Blvd.

New Year's Photos with a M3 in Albuquerque with Kawtar

New Year's Photos with a M3 in Albuquerque with Kawtar

M3 is a great photo prop!

For regular readers of this blog, you may recognize both Kawtar and my M3. Kawtar is a networking friend who also was a headshot client 2 months ago. She has a custom of having themed photos of her made every New Year’s. This year she wanted to pose with a convertible, and it just so happened I have a convertible! We decided on a parking garage location for the shoot because it is an appropriate setting for using a car as prop. You would never know how cold and windy it actually was from the photos, but Kawtar was up for any ideas I had, and Jessica was a great assistant making sure all the lighting stayed up in the air as needed.

Porsche 911 Targa GTS top down drone video Santa Fe

Targa top down photographed straight down

I debuted some drone aerial car photography of an Aston Martin recently, and am following it up with these photos and video, of a Porsche 911 Targa GTS. The drone photo below looking straight down on the sports car with its targa top down is one of my favorite shots of 2019. I also used my Sony a7R IV from the ground to photograph the stunning interior of this custom ordered Porsche. It was very easy spending time photographing this car, as Porsche is one of my top three favorite car makers, and the 911 Targa GTS of all the many, many 911 variants, would be my first choice to own myself.
