This was the first of a series of photoshoots for Haltom Orthodontics that will have me traveling to Los Lunas and Grants next. Before sunrise this morning I was up loading up my portable photo studio gear as the only time all four doctors could be there was 7am! It takes a while to setup so I was there shortly after 6:30am. Everyone was plenty awake though for their headshots not surprisingly all having great smiles as well! After that was a team photo with all four orthodontists, then a father-son photo, which I did not know was the case until after the shoot. I look forward to the next photoshoot in Grants.

Networking works in Albuquerque

Longtime networking friend Lisa contacted me about making headshots for the entire team at FatPipe New Mexico, which is a fantastic coworking space in Albuquerque and other cities around New Mexico. I actually normally visit FatPipe ABQ once a week every Wednesday morning for 1 Million Cups, but with Covid-19, it has gone virtual meaning I do not leave my desk at home. I did get to actually use the coworking space recently as I was without power at home for two days. With very short notice Lisa had a work space for me ready to go when I arrived, with of course very fast wifi. Thank you Lisa and Stewart for choosing me as your headshot photographer!

Getting candids with Jalene and friends

Longtime and one of my favorite photography clients, Jalene, asked if I could make some candid portraits of her and other board members of Save New Mexico. If you have followed the blog of Jason Collin Photography for some time, you will see I photograph people, organizations, and events from across the political spectrum. This was a very fun shoot where Jalene’s abundance of personality made it easy to get fun candids of the group, and we also made headshots for everyone on location too. I even recorded some B-roll video that was used on the website! Thank you Jalene for continuing to choose me as your photographer for everything from theatre performances to headshots!

Studio like results for portraits in the park in Albuquerque

In addition to making candid portraits of Indu’s 1 year old son, I also made group portraits of her extended family at Altura Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The sun came out from behind the trees in a few of the shots just right to add an amazing visual element to the portraits. Since I use the same lighting I would in studio out on location, the results are spectacular portraits combining the best elements of outdoor and in studio photography. Photographing the orchestra at Albuquerque Academy

Now having photographed two plays at Albuquerque Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I am excited about expanding into the area of theatre photography. The latest play I photographed was the final dress rehearsal for Pirates of Penzance (see those photos). Before the performance started, I had a chance to photograph the orchestra getting warmed up in the pit. I had free range to go anywhere in the auditorium, including the catwalk! Also, the lighting changed during the warmup from very bright to the actual dark light level that would be used when the play was being performed. The last photo was of all the musicians out of the bit and on the stage for a clear group photo. I look forward to photographing their next play and of course sharing those photos with you here on Jason Collin Photography.

Creating new lawyer group photos in Albuquerque

I really appreciate returning clients, and Giddens + Gatton Law are now two time returning clients no less! Plus, almost exactly one year to the day, I first visited their law firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico to make commercial portraits and headshots for them. Now that they have added a fourth attorney to their team, they wanted updated group photos featuring the new attorney as well as a few more groupings of the lawyers in general. We had the shoot in the lobby of the office building where their firm is located, just like before. Not wanting to simply repeat the shots I made for them previously, we used a different area of the lobby and I switched up lenses (and apertures) to create an entirely new look for these group photos for what I had done for them before.

Accounting Team Headshots in Albuquerque

I have already posted about what a huge coincidence it was to in just a 4 day span to photograph two entire office teams in the same corporate park in Albuquerque, New Mexico and also making a group shot too! Statistical anomalies like that fascinate me. This shoot was for accounting firm Loftis & Lovato Group who have already integrated all their great new headshots and their group shot into their website. Now when clients visit their site they will see that everyone, all 9 team members, are in a visual way part of the same team. No mismatched headshots, no outdoor snapshots, instead consistent, modern professional business headshots for everyone.
