Powder Explosion for Stunning Product Shots in Albuquerque

Regular readers of this site might remember I recently did a tarot card product shoot for Darshanie of Lovely Om. As soon as I saw her tarot cards I knew they were the perfect subject to use to try out my first powder explosion product shot. I needed a couple things I did not have on hand to make this shot, including a Duo Board and the actual powder (check out the how-to video below for where and what products to get from Evan Naka). Once everything is setup with lighting, the powder, etc (see BTS shot below), getting the powder explosion shot itself is just a matter of putting enough powder on the board, and whacking the board hard enough to get enough explosion. It only took a few tries to get the results you see in this blog post. Thank you to Jessica for assisting on this shoot and doing the whacking!

It was great working with the team at Centric Title and at the end even making an impromptu duo portrait showing the flexibility of my mobile headshot setup. Tarot Cards featured in creative product photography in Albuquerque

Product photography photo shoots are some of the most interesting types of photo shoots I do here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico because of the opportunity to be creative depending on the type of product. For this shoot, tarot cards were featured in a number of creative ways thanks largely to the help of the person who actually made the cards, Darshanie of Lovely Om. She drew the pictures for each tarot card over the course of ten years! Along with her partner Markus, we came up with a fan spread of the cards, some shots featuring a book on tarot and that particular card described on the page, plus my favorite, just spread out some tarot cards and I look for the best angle, kind of freestyle shooting! Being a commercial photographer willing to travel to anywhere in New Mexico, I get opportunities like this to visit a special place like Pebble Labs, and spend a day with the entire team making headshots of everyone, photographing them in action in their lab, and then gathering everybody together for a huge team group photo in their unique greenhouse. Now every employee of Pebble Labs has a modern, professional headshot that looks consistent with everyone else at the lab, and there is no stock photography used on their website. What you see are the actual employees in their actual lab doing the innovate work they do. Thank you to everyone at Pebble for a great day of photography and for choosing me as your photographer.

Jacquelyn of Shaw Skin Clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico contacted me about getting updated headshots for her team as well as new commercial portraits featuring a new team member. I always highly recommend to business owners to have professional commercial portraits and actions shots made of your actual team doing the actual service your business does rather than using stock photography. The difference in impact is not even comparable. Take these commercial portraits I made for Jacquelyn for example. Instead of meaningless stock images, you are seeing the actual skincare professional in the actual setting you will be getting the treatment in. I believe this really helps a client/customer/patient choose your business because they will already get to see who they will be working with, and what environment they will be in. Plus, I have also long been saying every member of your team should have the same professional headshot as everyone else, so that clients/customers/patients know that each member of the team is valued the same as even the owner of the business. Virtual CBD Product Photography Shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico

This CBD product photography shoot here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico was unique as the team from Craft 1861 observed the shoot via a Zoom like interface. I had my MacBook Pro pointed toward the product photography setup where the team could see how the labels were facing, product pairings, and then the final results. I appreciate and welcome client feedback during product shoots, and was surprised how relatively easily and smoothly a virtual client shoot was! Creative Variety in Singer Headshots in Albuquerque New Mexico

Teen singer Sophia visited the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her parents for a series of creative headshots to help promote her singing career. In a short period of time, even with numerous outfit changes, we were able to create many different headshot looks for her to use for social media, marketing, and personal branding. Sophia did great in front of the camera for not being that experienced, and it was nice chatting with her parents while MUA Samanthia kept her makeup and hair photo ready (follow Samanthia on Instagram). It was a true team effort creating these headshots!
