Event photography inside the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History

I have been photographing various events for NAPAC 2022 around Albuquerque this week, one of which was an evening event at The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History which I had never been to before. NAPAC stands for North American Particle Accelerator Conference so the attendees have knowledge of nuclear science and thus it was a great idea to host part of the conference at the nuclear museum! Once the long time tour guides (they go by a different title actually) announced the choice of going with one about a certain topic and the other for another topic, I had the chance to get some candids of the NAPAC 2022 attendees in the museum itself, and also in setting sunlight, out on the grounds with various airplanes as the background. The photo above is my favorite of the event, as it seems to really have a story behind it. That gentleman in the photo was by himself the entire time wandering the interior and then exterior of the museum keeping to himself with his own thoughts.

Pageant Photography Photo Session that got results

Evee’s grandmother called me asking if I would go to Los Lunas, New Mexico (about 30 minutes away) to make pageant portraits of the precocious 4-year old. I am always straight forward with potential clients about my experience in a certain area of photography, and even though I had not made pageant photos before, I am experienced with off camera flash outdoors, which is the kind of out of the box pageant photos Kim wanted for Evee. Most pageant photos are made in studio, so these photos I made for Evee in her own backyard have already helped her move on to nationals! Fun fact about Evee, if she had $10 million what would she want? Watermelon. Thank you Kim for choosing me as your photographer and for Evee taking a break, occasionally, from being a ham, to let me make these pageant portraits of her. I should really do an outtakes post from the shoot because Evee can make some serious fish faces!

Commercial Portraits for a magazine article in downtown ABQ

This was another great magazine article shoot for Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City done right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. And in a very big coincidence, it was nearly a year to the day of my very first shoot for them and it was in the exact same building! Even though it was the same building, I met Janice in a different area of its amazing lobby in this kind of loft style conference room. Janice was very detailed orientated during her commercial portrait shoot, which is great for getting an as close to perfect shot as possible. This professional product photography shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico took place in studio and out on location on a basketball court. Alexander had specific ideas for what photos he wanted of his sneaker crease protectors, and one of those was on a basketball court, which was a fun challenge to shoot on. Going for the abstract with Christmas Lights

Going and strolling around Christmas lights displays is not really fun or entertaining for me, unless I bring my camera and a large aperture lens, in this case my new Sony 50mm f/1.2 G Master, the largest aperture lens I have ever owned. I personally think Christmas lights look better in photos out of focus, so that the frame is nearly entirely bokeh. I purposefully tried to make the photos out of focus to get the most bokeh in every shot and highlight the color and shape of the lights. Which one is your favorite?

High impact actor portfolio headshots in Albuquerque

George visited the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico with a definite vision for the actor headshots he wanted. He had been growing out his beard, brought props, and was ready to go for his western cowboy themed actor headshot photo session. We settled on a gray background as the most complimentary for the photos, I put on the camera my brand new Sony 50mm f/1.2 G Master lens, and then George did the rest. Through several wardrobe changes, a couple of lighting changes, and even getting a saddle into the action, we had a very creative headshot session and George now has the photos he needs to land western and cowboy roles.
