Author headshots made to attract her target reader audience in Albuquerque

Sometimes clients have very specific ideas for their headshots, and I am happy to make those come to reality. Such was the case for an author who visited the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mary wanted a certain look and feel to her headshots to match her target reader audience. We made one headshot on a white background and one on a black background to help with the different looks she wanted. Thank you Mary for choosing me as your headshot photographer!

Book Cover Photo Shoot in Albuquerque with an author friend

When local Albuquerque author and friend Sonja Dewing contacted me last week about needing some book cover photos for her, to be written the upcoming weekend, memoir, I was glad I had a last minute spot left in my schedule for the week. There were two concepts for the book cover, one using just some of her items from her time in service (like dog tags, etc) and then one with her holding some of these items. We made the lay flat image first using one of my new Duo Boards with a faux (but hyperrealistic) wood background. Then we made the photo with Sonja on a white seamless background with some of those items in her hand and on her person in various ways (check out the BTS shot below). Over the weekend she chose to go with the items on the wood background for the actual book cover photo. I think the final result turned out great!

Books, a dog, and great light for personal branding photos for an author

Visiting the home of Rio Rancho, New Mexico based author Linda Kolsky for personal branding photos and a commercial portrait photo shoot was a great creative experience. Using different areas of Linda’s home, as well as props, and sure to steal the show, her dog Winston, we made a variety of different photos for her to use in promoting her upcoming book. The light in her living room was fantastic and I want to use it as a photo studio! Thank you to Linda for being open to my photo ideas and for having your own, and to Winston for sitting for some photos, and to Jessica for assisting on this shoot. It was a true team effort!
